Dr Who Premiere, 5 January 1976
Dr Who, Episode 1 listing, 5 January 1976
The Silurians, 10 February 1976

Channel 2 (PBS)

  • 5 January 1976: The standard package of Jon Pertwee stories debuted in Boston on Monday 5 January, from 7.30 to 8.00pm. The TOPS TODAY and main billings both name the star as "John Pertwee". The main billing for the first episode also offers rather scathing comments about the quality of the BBC's special effects!
  • 12 January 1976: The episode was billed as a 'repeat', but it was most likely a new episode.
  • 20 January 1976, the series moves to Tuesday. The 10 February entry (the show aired at 8.30pm for this episode only) gives the following synopsis: "Plague spreads to London before Dr Who manages to find antidote", which is for Doctor Who and the Silurians, either episode five or six, depending on whether or not 12 January had been a repeat.
  • 10 April 1976: The series moves to Saturdays.
  • 2 October 1976: After this airing, Doctor Who moves over to WGBX.
  • 11 June 1979: Tom Baker stories air in random order, Monday through Thursdays, 7.00pm.
  • 11 January 1980: A Friday airing is added.
  • 8 October 1980: Robot begins another run, this time in order.
  • 1983: Tom Baker's final season airs, weekdays at 7.00pm.
  • 1984: The series aired weekdays from 7.00 to 7.30pm during September 1984.
  • 16 May 1987: Sylvester McCoy makes his first US convention appearance, appearing at the WGBH studios as a part of the Doctor Who USA Tour travelling Bus Tour.
  • 1987: The 24 repackaged Jon Pertwee stories screened. When Planet of the Daleks aired episodically, parts one and two were in colour, three in b/w, four and five in colour. Episode six was omitted!
  • 13 September 1987: The series moves to Sunday nights at 11:30.
  • 29 September 1988: The series ends, not with a bang, but with The Horns of Nimon.
The Claws of Axos, 1 August 1976
