  • Since the last scene of part 6 featured a 'flashback' lead-in to the repeat of The Evil of the Daleks, this story may have been treated the same as all other Dalek serials, and only had a limited sales period, which was shorter than the rest of season five, expiring in 1973 instead of 1974/75.
  • The Hong Kong prints were presumably sent to Singapore soon after transmission.
  • A 16mm print of episode 3 was returned to the BBC in 1984. The then-owner had acquired it from a collector who had possessed it since 1971. The only possible source of this would be Singapore, but only if the films had been returned to the BBC soon after transmission in 1970. With part 3 missing when the sale to Gibraltar came through a few years later, a replacement copy was struck. (See also The Dominators).
  • The sale to Gibraltar was actually "back-catalogue", as they had already started screening Jon Pertwee stories by this time.
  • The films may have been borrowed by Nigeria, where they were screened first, then sent (back) to Gibraltar for screening a few months later.
  • The New Zealand prints were likely disposed of at the end of 1974. (The NZBC's rights to screen the story had expired on 31 May 1973, which ties in with the serial's shorter sales rights period.)
    • This was the final Doctor Who serial to be purchased by New Zealand for some time; the NZBC later acquired a run of Pertwees in 1974.
  • Since the Australian prints were not returned to the BBC with the bulk consignment in 1975, it's likely the films had already been disposed of by then, perhaps in 1973?
  • See also the Troughton Junkings page.

Reconstruction

  • From September 2017, a tele-snap reconstruction of the story was available on the US BritBox site, and from December 2019 on the UK equivalent.
