Doctor Who aired in these cities, on these channels:

Houston

KPRC

Channel 2 (NBC)

  • In the 16 August 1978 issue of Variety magazine (see United States--1978), "HOUSTON" is named as one of 17 cities to have bought the series. KPRC is therefore one of the very first US stations to screen the Tom Baker stories.
  • 18 September-24 November 1978: Aired Monday-Friday at 3pm.
  • Apparently this station started adding its own sound-effects and laughter-track to the broadcasts – such as a burping Skarasen (Terror of the Zygons).
  • Compilations were screened on Sunday afternoons – but these were 90 minutes with commercials, necessitating in some heavy editing – for instance, the last 10 minutes of The Masque of Mandragora was chopped out.
