DISNEY+ is the official streaming platform owned by Disney Branded Television, a subsidiary of the wider WALT DISNEY corporate behemoth.

In October 2022 it was announced that Disney+ had secured the exclusive international screening rights to broadcast all new episodes of Doctor Who from November 2023 - starting with the three 60th Anniversary specials featuring David Tennant, then continuing with the new series starring Ncuti Gatwa that debuted at Christmas 2023.

The BBC retains its exclusive screenings rights for the UK and Ireland.

Disney+ is available in over 150 markets around the world.

Some of the foreign broadcasters that had been showing first runs and repeats of the New Series (such as Australia's ABC, and New Zealand's TVNZ) confirmed that they were not able to purchase the latest series (but can still screen repeats), effectively leaving the BBC and Disney+ as the only two main broadcasters that can screen new episodes Doctor Who.

While the deal with Disney+ currently does not extend to the classic series, that situation could change. At the time of the announcement, the only stations still screening Classic episodes were in the United States.
